PHILADELPHIA, May 1, 2006 - Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) recently hosted its first Community Clean-Up. The event marked the start of a bi-monthly volunteer initiative to help unite residents and families and to improve the appearance and safety of area neighborhoods. In December 2005, CTCA opened a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility at 1331 E. Wyoming Avenue. CTCA completely renovated the 270,000 square-foot former Parkview Hospital, which had been vacant since September 2003. “Cancer Treatment Centers of America has proven to be a conscientious and concerned corporate citizen,” said Senator Tina Tartaglione. “I am pleased to join CTCA and the many neighborhood volunteers who gathered to join hands to improve this community and make it a cleaner and safer area,” Tartaglione said. “Cancer Treatment Centers of America is a place of healing and hope,” said John McNeil, President and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center. “We are grateful to have our newest hospital located in a neighborhood filled with friendly, compassionate people. We look forward to working along with them to keep the community clean, safe and beautiful.” The city of Philadelphia has several beautification programs to improve the overall quality of life, including The Community Partnership Program, The Anti-Graffiti Paint & Supply Voucher Program and The Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee just to mention a few.
