Harrisburg - Using a technique favored by the NFL, Sen. Christine M. Tartaglione today set the record straight on the latest Republican attempt to delay a minimum wage vote. “Upon further review,” Tartaglione said. “Senate Republican leadership fumbled while trying to run out the clock.” In their latest desperate attempt to ignore overwhelming public sentiment and solid approval in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Senate Republicans have insisted that, in his February Budget Address, Gov. Edward Rendell said lawmakers could wait until January to raise the minimum wage. “But when we went to the video, they were clearly wrong,” Tartaglione said. “There is nothing unclear or equivocal about what the Governor said.” Tartaglione is the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 926, the latest in a six-year effort to keep thousands of Pennsylvania families from sinking deeper into poverty by adjusting the minimum wage to keep up with inflation. More than 80 percent of Pennsylvanians support such a move, and the state House passed a similar bill by a 2-1 margin. “It’s time to stop stalling and put up the votes,” Tartaglione said.
