TARTAGLIONE RESOLUTION MARKS
'HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH'

HARRISBURG, September 18, 2007 - The state Senate yesterday passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. Christine M. Tartaglione declaring National Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania.

Throughout our history, Hispanic Americans have shown their devotion to our country, making valuable contributions through business, industry, politics, education, the sciences and the arts, Tartaglione said on the Senate floor. Hispanic Americans have fought in every war since our founding and have taken their rightful place as heroes in our nations history.

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Sept. 15 through October 15, and will include events across the Commonwealth and across the country.  The state designation aligns with National Hispanic Heritage Month declared by Congress, which coincides with the anniversaries in seven Latin American countries that declared their independence from Sept. 15 through Sept. 18.
