The Senate voted unanimously in favor of Senate Bill 21. This bill would permit changes to land in Chester County. If the Governor approves, restrictions on land and real estate can be changed in Newlin and West Bradford Townships. The bill is now in the House.
The Senate approved Senate Bill 263 with a unanimous vote. The measure would amend Section 301 of the Pennsylvania Occupational Disease Act, which provides for disability compensation for workers suffering from silicosis, anthraco-silicosis, coal worker’s pneumoconiosis, and asbestosis. Pennsylvania workers with a total disability were originally eligible for monthly payments of $75. The monthly payment was raised by $25 in 1969 and by another $25 in 1979. The total monthly payment is currently $125. This bill would increase the monthly payment by an additional $25, for a total of $150. The measure is now in the House.
The Senate unanimously approved Senate Bill 437. This bill would amend the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act to provide Pennsylvania builders with an exemption from a section of the 2006 International Residential Code, which applies to one- and two-family dwellings that are no more than three stories high. The measure is now in the House.
