December 10, 2009

Dear Friend,

Over the past several months you have contacted my office with questions or comments. I appreciated hearing from you and would like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and all the best for a healthy and prosperous New Year.

In these challenging economic times, it is crucial that we continue to step forward and answer the call of those in need throughout the year. I encourage all residents to donate just a few canned goods or a gift card to ensure that none of our neighbors ever go hungry. Local businesses should also consider starting their own collections to make giving more convenient for customers and employees.

Senator Andy Dinniman (right) presents gift cards that were donated through his office to Major Gerald Morgan of The Salvation Army of West Chester (left) and Fiona Allison of the West Chester Food Cupboard (center).

Every donation helps meet a growing and ongoing demand. Hunger is not a seasonal problem, and donations are needed all year long. That is why canned goods and gift cards to local supermarkets are now being collected year-round at my West Chester District Office, located at historic One North Church Street (the corner of Church and Market Streets) in downtown West Chester. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All donations will go to the West Chester Food Cupboard and the Salvation Army of West Chester. I hope you will make this part of your monthly giving.

In addition, I urge you to directly support the local food cupboards and programs in your area. They are in need of everything from nonperishable food stuffs to personal care items like disposable razors, deodorant and shampoo. I’ve included a list of food cupboards in Chester County at the bottom of this e-mail. Be sure to call ahead for drop-off times. All of your donations are greatly appreciated.

We have been blessed with an abundant harvest, and it is important that we share it with our friends and neighbors to maintain the spirit of the holiday season all year long.

Thank you and as always, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at andy@pasenate.com with any questions, concerns or comments that you may have.

Sincerely,
Andy
