Welcome to another edition of Northeast
Notes! Right now, I am joining several other
local lawmakers to try to save Northeastern
Hospital from
closing. Clearly, this hospital serves a
critical need, and the community does not
want to see its doors closed.
Residents rely on the hospital in an
emergency. Additionally, Northeastern is the
last hospital in Northeast Philadelphia with
a maternity ward.
This hospital is a crucial part of Port
Richmond and it’s a major employer. I will
continue to work with community leaders,
fellow legislators and Temple University
Health System to try to find an alternative
to shutting down this life-saving landmark.
As always, check out the latest news and
information on my Web site,

I-95 Ramps Project Construction to
Start
this Month
The first
phase of the
Interstate 95 Cottman-Princeton Interchange
Project is scheduled to begin this
month.
This phase includes the construction of a
new southbound on-ramp from State Road at
Longshore Street and a new northbound
on-ramp from Milnor Street. The southbound
on-ramp at Princeton Avenue will be removed
and the avenue will be converted into a
two-way road east of Torresdale Avenue, with
pedestrian-friendly improvements like a bike
lane, new sidewalks and expanded curbs.
In addition, Cottman Avenue will be
converted into a two-way road, with one lane
travelling eastbound and two lanes
travelling westbound, from Torresdale Avenue
to State Road.
Once the project is complete, residents who
live near these ramps will enjoy a quieter
neighborhood without the speeding motorists
and loud trucks barreling down their streets
anymore.
