State Programs Now Available for Autistic Adults

Pennsylvania now offers programs designed specifically for adults with autism spectrum disorders.http://www.pasenate.com/enews/Stack/Autism Ribbon

The Adult Autism Medicaid Waiver and the Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP) offer a variety of services that meet the needs of autistic adults through the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare’s Bureau of Autism Services.

Often, when we talk about autism spectrum disorders, we focus on programs that benefit children, but there are many autistic adults who want and need support for a better quality of life. This is an important and necessary step toward treating the autism community with the attention it deserves.

Specialists can help individuals work on goals like finding and keeping a job, socializing, exploring personal interests and communicating effectively. Respite and family counseling is also available to loved ones.
