Philadelphia – May 10, 2019 – Sen. Larry Farnese (D-Philadelphia) is pleased to announce that the Philadelphia Senior Center on the Avenue of the Arts has been awarded a 2018-2019 Senior Center Grant to implement and improve programs.
“Senior Centers are important and necessary establishments in our communities,” said Farnese. “For many aging adults, the centers provide access to social events, health screenings, financial protection education, and other important services.”
The center was awarded $80,000 in grant funding to implement programs of interest to local seniors, attract new generations of older adults, and provide a safe and healthy environment for participants.
“I am happy the Philadelphia Senior Center is receiving assistance to increase participation and improve programs that will benefit local seniors,” said Farnese.
The Senior Center Grants are administered through the Department of Aging and funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery.
