HARRISBURG – May 10, 2018 – State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery/Delaware) and the Montgomery County Senior Adult Activities Center yesterday hosted their Health and Human Services Fair.
One hundred seniors attended Leach’s fair to learn more about resources available through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and Montgomery County. Representatives from the PA Department of Human Services, Montgomery County’s Aging and Adult Services, Recorder of Deeds and Register of Wills participated in the event.
“There are dozens of programs and benefits out there for Pennsylvania’s seniors, both at the state level and at the local level,” Leach said. “We hosted this event to remind people of the programs they have access to. It’s also a great opportunity for different parts of government to come together to help the constituents they serve.”
During the event, Leach’s staff assisted attendees in completing COMPASS and SEPTA Senior Key Card applications. Also present at the event was Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Jeanne Sorg and her staff, who registered local veterans for Veterans’ Photo ID Discount cards. Staff from Independence Blue Cross provided information on Medicaid and CHIP, while the Norristown Fire Company spoke about fire safety and the Norristown Police Department collected prescription drugs for disposal.
Senator Daylin Leach represents the 17th Senatorial District, which includes parts of Montgomery County and Delaware County. He is also the Democratic Chairperson of the Senate Judiciary Committee. For more information visit www.senatorleach.com/newsroom.
