Post Session Report: May 22, 2012

SB 817, PN 1830 (Baker) – This legislation amends Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for the use of restraints on juveniles during court proceedings.  The Senate concurred in House amendments to the bill by a vote of 48-0.

HB 165, PN 3560 (J. Evans) – Amends Title 18 (Crimes Code) by imposing a criminal penalty upon the owner or co-owner of a dog that injures a service dog used by an individual with a disability.  A vote of 38-10 was recorded.

SB 1263, PN 1627 (Browne) – This bill would create a provision in the Fiscal Code for the “Reed Act” limitations under Labor and Industry Appropriations.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

SB 1398, PN 2163 (Yudichak) – This bill amends the “Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Act” (Act 32 of 1989) to extend the sunset date for two of act’s programs to June 30, 2017.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

HB 1610, PN 3442 (Vereb) – This bill creates the “Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act” to require the development of guidelines to educate coaches, parents and student-athletes about the warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest; provides for the removal of student-athletes from participating in a sporting event if they show symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest; requires new training for coaches to recognize the symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest; and provides penalties for violation of the act.  A vote of 46-2 was recorded.

HB 1825, PN 3494 (Baker) – This legislation would authorize the Department of General Services and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to convey certain lands located throughout the Commonwealth.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded.
