SB 748, PN953: The legislation amends the Library Code to eliminate several mandates placed on local libraries and library systems and adds an additional funding level for Incentive for Excellence Aid.  A 42-7 vote was recorded.

SB 10, PN853: The legislation provides for an economic enhancement program in the Department of Community and Economic Development.  The legislation, known as the Economic Enhancement Act, provides that the program operate through a newly created Economic Enhancement Financing Authority for the purpose of stimulating economic activity in areas of distress targeted throughout the Commonwealth. 

A1535(Brightbill): This amendment requires the newly created authority to provide financial assistance to persons for qualified projects in the form of loans or grants.  The amendment also changes the effective date of the act from July 1, 2003 to that date, or immediately, whichever is later.  A 49-0 vote was recorded. 

SB 95, PN821: The legislation amends the Domestic Relations Code relating to divorce actions.  The bill contains extensive revisions relating to divorce actions as recommended by the Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee on Domestic Relations Law.  A 49-0 vote was recorded. 

SB 508, PN964: The legislation amends the Municipal Claim and Tax Lien Law to provide for a three-month redemption period in all municipalities for property sold under a tax or municipal claim.  It also provides for no redemption period for vacant property sold under a tax or municipal claim. 

A1580(Dent): This is a technical amendment.  It removes the phrase “vacant property” from the title of the bill and the term “county” from Section 32.  A 49-0 vote was recorded. 

EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS: The Honorable Vincent J. Hughes was confirmed as a member of the Cheyney University Board of Trustees.  A 48-0 vote was recorded.
