HB 113, PN 2099: The legislation restores the education-funding portion to the state budget (Republican initiative).  It also adds a section to the Public School relating to Firefighter and Emergency Service Training.  A 28-21 vote was recorded. 

The following amendments to the bill were agreed to by a 49-0 vote:

A2084(Brightbill): This amendment changes the sum the bill provides for basic education funding from $4,202,018,057 to $4,204,406,906.

A2115(Kukovich): This amendment deletes provisions relating to professional teacher assessment. 

The following amendments were tabled by a 28-21 party-line vote (voting to table the amendments ended all debate on the issues addressed in those amendments):

A1948(Boscola): This amendment prohibits school districts from levying or collecting real property taxes after December 31, 2003. 

A 1950(Boscola): This amendment exempts senior citizens who are 65 years of age or older, under certain provisions, from any future real property tax increases.   

SB 382, PN429: The legislation reauthorizes the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, which is scheduled to sunset on June 30, 2003.  The new sunset date is June 30, 2009, unless reenacted prior to March 31, 2009.  A 49-0 vote was recorded. 

SB 432, PN994 The legislation amends the Public Safety Emergency Telephone Act to establish an enhanced wireless E-911 emergency telephone system to allow county 911 centers to accurately pinpoint the location and number of a person who is calling 911 for emergency assistance.  A 48-1 vote was recorded.
