SB 200, PN1387 The legislation amends Title 24 (Education) to further provide for termination of annuities.  The bill permits annuitants, who are certified teachers, to return to service without penalty against their annuity, for a period not to extend beyond the school year during which the emergency or shortage occurs.            

A0280(D. White): This amendment defines the term “extracurricular activity” as it pertains to the bill.  A 48-1 vote was recorded.

A0693(A. Williams): This amendment adds personnel, in addition to teachers, who hold instructional or administrative certificates to those annuitants who may return to service under the bill.  A 48-1 vote was recorded.

SB 705, PN1394The legislation defines misleading statements regarding privacy on the Internet as a fraudulent business practice.  Making a false or misleading statement in a privacy policy, which is published on the Internet or otherwise distributed to the public, regarding how personal information submitted by a member of the public will be used, would be a fraudulent business practice.  This will be a summary offense punishable by a fine of not less than $50 or more than $500.

A0664(Corman): This is a technical amendment to further clarify language in the bill.    A 49-0 vote was recorded.

HB 1130, PN3235 This bill amends several sections of the Vehicle Code providing for learner’s permits, the child Passenger Restraint Fund, for a hospital information program, for oral hazard warnings, and for civil immunity for lenders of child passenger restraint systems. 

A0611(Mellow): This amendment gives a child passenger safety technician civil immunity for an act or omission that occurs solely in the inspection, installation or adjustment of a child passenger restraint system or child booster seat under certain circumstances.  A 49-0 vote was recorded.

A0699(Wozniak): This amendment requires the driver of an emergency vehicle to comply with provisions already in place for all other vehicles relating to meeting or overtaking a school bus.  A 49-0 vote was recorded.

A0646(C. Williams): This amendment prohibits children under 10 years of age from riding in the front seat of a passenger vehicle. A 7-42 vote was recorded.
