SB 985, PN1512 The legislation amends the Domestic Relations Code to abolish common-law marriages.  The bill provides that no common-law marriage contracted after January 1, 2005 shall be valid in Pennsylvania.  A 49-1 vote was recorded. 

HB 1438, PN1784 The legislation amends the First Class Township Code regarding the construction and maintenance of firehouses. The bill removes a provision that requires the board of commissioners to obtain voter approval to construct or maintain firehouses in townships of the first class.  A 50-0 vote was recorded.
