PASSED THE SENATE

SB 450, PN 1109: This bill would prohibit price gouging during a state of emergency in the commonwealth and give the Attorney General the authority to prosecute price gougers.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 619, PN 2656: This legislation would amend the Agricultural Area Security Law to include farms that engage in “commercial equine activity” as eligible for the state’s farmland preservation program.  A vote of 47-2 was recorded.

HB 875, PN 2658: This bill would increase the death benefit for police officers, firefighters, and other emergency responders to $100,000 in Pennsylvania.  This legislation would also bring state regulations in line with those of the federal government, so that the state would presume that a firefighter, ambulance service or rescue squad member, state police officer, other law enforcement officer, or National Guard member who suffers a fatal heart attack or stroke during or within 24 hours of a training exercise or emergency response has died as a result of the performance of his/her duties.  Their family would then be eligible to receive the death benefit payment.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.
