SB 358, PN 1141:
This Democratic-sponsored bill
would allow members
of the National Guard who were deployed to active duty to extend their
participation in the Educational Assistance Program for one year or a
time equal to their deployment, whichever is greater. The program
currently provides members with tuition grants to pay for up to five
years of college, which the members are required to complete during
their term of service. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.
SB 682, PN 1143:
A family with at least one parent who has been ordered to active federal
or state duty in the Pennsylvania National Guard would be given
preference for placement in state subsidized child care, under this
Democratic-sponsored legislation. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.
HB 761, PN 2761:
The legislation amends the Crimes Code to address the use of electronic
devices to record or depict the intimate parts of another person,
without their knowledge, where they would have a reasonable expectation
of privacy for the purpose of obtaining of sexual gratification. This is
commonly referred to as “downblousing” or “upskirting.” Senator
Brightbill offered Amendment A02982, which was technical in order. The
amendment was adopted and the bill was passed 48-0.
SB 867, PN 1132:
This bill
will make an appropriation of $25 from the State Gaming Fund to PEMA for
the purpose of funding grants under Act of 17 2003, known as the
Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Act. A
vote of 48-0 was recorded.
HB 1069, PN 2762:
This bill would help members of the Pennsylvania Guard members and
reservists by providing active-duty soldiers up to 15 days of additional
military leave of absence in any one year without loss of pay, time, and
efficiency rating. Senator Brightbill offered Amendment A02972, which
was technical in nature. The amendment was adopted and the bill went
over in its order.
