PASSED THE SENATE

 

HB 1717, PN 2918: This legislation would make several changes to the state Uniform Firearms Act and strengthen protections for victims of domestic violence.  Under this bill, courts could order individuals with a temporary protection-from-abuse order filed against them to surrender their firearms.  The bill also would provide for an additional $5 fee to be assessed temporarily on firearms licenses to fund the modernization of the state’s licensing system.  A vote of 48-2 was recorded.

SB 932, PN 1270: This bill would convey land to the borough of Doylestown.  Sen. Conti offered amendment A3333, which stipulates that the land may not be used for a gaming facility.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and a vote of 50-0 was recorded for the bill.

HB 1179, PN 2953: This legislation would establish the Military Family Relief Assistance Program.  Sen. Robbins offered amendment A3338, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and a vote of 50-0 was recorded for the bill.

SB 193, PN 1271: This bill would provide for poll workers who serve a half-day.  Sen. Rafferty offered amendment A3212, which removes the requirement that second-shift poll workers take their oath at least 30 minutes before beginning work.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill was moved up.

SR 170, PN 1181: This resolution designates the month of November 2005 as “Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.
