PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 178, PN 1374: This legislation would amend the Crimes Victims Act of 1998 relating to the crime of identity theft.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

SB 713, PN 1376: This legislation would require consumers to opt-in for listing in any cellular phone provider’s directory.  Sen. Wonderling offered amendment A4393, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 895, PN 1377: This bill would make it unlawful for any person to taunt or torture an animal owned and used by the SEPTA or Port Authority Police Department.  Sen. Mellow offered amendment A4398, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 987, PN 1297: This legislation would authorize the Department of General Services to grant and convey lands in Benner Township, Centre County, to the Centre County Industrial Development Corporation.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 1049, PN 3153: This bill would amend the Barbers’ License Law to allow the owner of a barbershop to designate either a barber-manager or another licensee to be in charge of the barbershop.  Sen. Brightbill offered amendment A3560, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill was tabled, removed, and placed on the next day’s calendar.

HB 1400, PN 1688: This legislation would further provide for the offense of indecent assault.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 2082, PN 3152: This bill would enact spending limits for the General Assembly through statute.  Appropriations from the General Fund would not be able to grow faster than an inflation index established in this bill.  The bill would provide for exceptions to the spending limit if the president declares a federal emergency or if the legislature makes a supermajority vote.  In years when tax revenues exceed spending limits, those excess funds would be divided between a reserve fund and taxpayer refunds.  A vote of 31-18 was recorded.
