PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 713, PN 1376: This legislation would require consumers to opt-in for listing in any cellular phone provider’s directory.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 798, PN 1360: This bill would further provide for the right to bail.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 999, PN 1327: This bill would extend the standards developed by the Voting Standards Development Board through the 2006 and 2007 elections and ensure the state’s continued compliance with the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA).  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

HB 1049, PN 3153: This bill would amend the Barbers’ License Law to allow the owner of a barbershop to designate either a barber-manager or another licensee to be in charge of the barbershop.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

HB 1686, PN 3174: This bill would provide for circumstances when a paintball gun may be carried in a vehicle.  Sen. Mellow offered amendment A4397, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

HR 88, PN 560: This concurrent resolution would establish a task force to study issues concerning sewage management and treatment at publicly owned treatment facilities throughout the state.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SSHER 2, Resolution A: This resolution approves the State System of Higher Education Property Request No. 2 of 2005.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 995, PN 1381: This legislation would remove certain requirements for snowmobile and ATV operators and add a section dealing with special event passes.  A vote of 44-4 was recorded.

HB 1539, PN 3176: This bill would make amendments to the Fiscal Code.  Previously the vehicle for the pay raise repeal, this bill also included a provision for an emergency energy assistance fund.  Sen. Corman and Sen. Hughes offered amendment A4518, which removed the pay raise repeal language.  As amended, the bill would provide for up to one mill of the utilities’ gross receipts tax to be appropriated from the General Fund to a special fund for emergency energy assistance.  This bill would appropriate up to $25 million to expand LIHEAP, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded.
