PASSED THE SENATE

SB 573, PN 1382: This bill would require fourth through eighth class counties to take two separate votes for any property tax increase after a countywide property reassessment.  Similar legislation for second class A and third class counties was enacted last year (Act 91 of 2004).  A 50-0 vote was recorded in concurrence with House amendments.

HB 111, PN 3237: This bill would make several changes to the Liquor Code.  Sen. Rafferty offered amendment A4843, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and a vote of 46-4 was recorded for the bill.

SB 394, PN 1400: This legislation would allow a municipal police department to establish and pay length of service increments for years of service in excess of 25 years.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

SB 435, PN 1357: This bill would amend the Judicial Code with regard to joint and several liability.  Sen. Greenleaf offered amendment A4650, which would have provided a compromise solution to the issue.  The amendment was defeated by a vote of 24-26.  A vote of 32-18 was recorded for the bill.

SB 563, PN 1358: This legislation would amend the Judicial Code with regard to joint and several liability.  Because this bill had already been considered as Greenleaf’s amendment A4650, Sen. Corman made a motion to table the bill.  The motion to table the bill was defeated by a vote of 23-27, and the bill went over in its order.

SB 895, PN 1403: This bill would make it unlawful for any person to taunt or torture an animal owned and used by SEPTA or Port Authority police officers.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.
