PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 170, PN 1424: This bill would eliminate the office of lieutenant governor from primary elections and allow gubernatorial nominees to choose their own running mates.  Sen. Piccola offered amendment A5282, which proposed having candidates for governor choose their running mates before the primary.  A vote of 23-27 was recorded on the amendment, and the amendment was defeated.  Sen. Mary Jo White offered amendment A5135, which changed the effective date of the act to January 1, 2007.  A vote of 28-22 was recorded on the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 398, PN 1404: This Democratic-sponsored legislation would require the state to provide additional life insurance coverage to active-duty Pennsylvania National Guard members.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

SB 437, PN 1306: This bill would amend the Enforcement Officer Disability Benefits Law to ensure all corrections employees are covered under the law.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

HB 2041, PN 3327: This legislation would amend the Public Welfare Code to extend the Mcare Abatement Program and the Health Care Provider Retention Program.   A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

SB 869, PN 1406: This bill would provide for an extension of health insurance benefits for members of the Pennsylvania National Guard and reservists who were full-time students at the time of deployment.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded on concurrence in House amendments.

HB 1318, PN 3328: This legislation would make several changes to the Pennsylvania Election Code.  Senate Democrats expressed concerns with a provision in the bill that would require all voters to present identification to poll workers.  A vote of 29-21 was recorded.
