PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 511, PN 999: This bill would amend the Job Enhancement Act of 1996 to allow master’s degree students to participate in the Technology Work Experience Internship Program.  This program allows PHEAA to provide matching funds to approved educational institutions to support internships for students in emerging technology.  A 50-0 vote was recorded.

SB 197, PN 972: This legislation would strengthen enforcement efforts at landfills and penalize operators who repeatedly violate those standards.  A 49-1 vote was recorded.

SB 644, PN 978: This legislation would authorize PennDOT to convey to Montour County two tracts of land situated in Danville.  A 50-0 vote was recorded.

SB 724, PN 868: This bill would amend the Vehicle Code to bring Pennsylvania into compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999.  If Pennsylvania does not bring its laws into compliance by September 30, 2005, the state could lose up to $40 million in federal highway dollars and the authority to issue and renew commercial driver’s licenses.  A 50-0 vote was recorded.

SB 777, PN 956: This legislation would designate a portion of State Route 28 in Allegheny County as the “28th Signal Battalion Memorial Highway.”  A 50-0 vote was recorded.

SB 778, PN 957: This bill would designate State Route 132 in Bucks County as the “Armed Forces and Veterans Memorial Highway.”  A 50-0 vote was recorded.

HB 1338, PN 2275: This bill would authorize the Department of General Services to convey to Columbia, Lancaster County, certain lands situated in the borough.  A 50-0 vote was recorded.
