PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 712, PN 1055: This bill would require companies to notify Pennsylvania consumers when their personal information (including social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and banking information) has been revealed due to a security system breach.  This bill is based on California law, which this year triggered the notification of 35,000 California residents whose information had been breached at ChoicePoint.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

SB 196, PN 1040: This legislation would provide immunity for physicians who report suspected illicit use of prescribed controlled substances by their patients.  A vote of 45-5 was recorded.

SB 669, PN 808: This bill would direct the Court Administrator and the Department of Labor and Industry to identify certified and otherwise qualified court interpreters and make a listing available for persons with limited English proficiency and persons who are deaf.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded.

SB 511, PN 1053: The legislation would amend the Job Enhancement Act of 1996 to allow master’s degree students to participate in the Technology Work Experience Internship Program.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded in concurrence with House amendments.

SB 600, PN 1052: This bill would authorize the release of restrictions of the Project 70 Land Acquisition and Borrowing Act from the lands owned by Indiana County.  This is in return for the imposition of Project 70 restrictions on land to be acquired by the Department of Transportation and deeded to Indiana County.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded in concurrence with House amendments.

SB 697, PN 1060: This bill would convey to Basalt Trap Rock Company the former site of the state prison in Waynesburg.  The bill also would authorize the Department of General Services to lease to Pier 25 North Associates limited partnership land within the bed of the Delaware River in Philadelphia and authorize the Department of Transportation to convey to Montour County two tracts of land in Danville.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded in concurrence with House amendments.

SB 722, PN 1051: The bill would amend the Storage Tank and Spill Prevention Act to provide for the continuation of an additional allocation for the Underground Storage Tank Environmental Cleanup Program.  A vote of 50-0 was recorded in concurrence with House amendments.
