PASSED THE SENATE

 

SR 234, PN 1536:  This resolution designates the week of March 13 through 17, 2006, as “Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week” in Pennsylvania.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 243, PN 244: This legislation would extend the payment of salary, medical, and hospital expenses to sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who are injured or contract certain diseases in the performance of their duty.  A vote of 44-3 was recorded.

SB 773, PN 952:  The bill amends the Crimes Code to make it a misdemeanor of the first degree for a person to transmit or receive by interstate or intrastate simulcasting of a greyhound race for commercial purposes.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 780, PN 1549:  The bill amends the Crimes Code to provide a person with immunity from prosecution for underage drinking under certain circumstances.  Senator Roberts offered amendment A6803 that removes references to alcohol consumption emergencies and replaces it with, all emergencies. The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 1062, PN 1514:  The bill amends the Liquor Code by requiring the board's Bureau of Alcohol Education to prepare a report on alcohol drinking and high-risk college alcohol drinking in the Commonwealth.  A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 957, PN 1550The bill amends the Crimes Code to add a section relating to the new criminal offense of “robbery on the premises of a financial institution”.  Senator Waugh offered amendment A6299 that clarifies language for certain definitions. The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SR 167, PN 1551:  A Concurrent Resolution directing the Joint State Government Commission to establish a task force to enlist the help of knowledgeable persons to develop educational materials to identify elderly persons at risk for suicide and to identify barriers and ways to surmount barriers encountered by professionals and nonprofessionals in connecting at-risk persons with appropriate resources.  Senator Orie offered amendment A6811, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the resolution was adopted unanimously.

HB 983, PN 3717:  This bill would amend Title 12 (Commerce and Trade) to make changes to the Infrastructure and Facilities Improvement Program and the Film Tax Credit Program.  A vote of 46-1 was recorded.
