PASSED THE SENATE

 

HB 2380, PN 3942:  This bill would amend the General Appropriation Act of 2005 to provide additional funding to the counties for full-time district attorneys.  This bill would also add funds for the Homeowner’s Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program and the Merchant Marine World War II Veterans Bonus Fund.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

SB 214, PN 206:  This bill would allow municipal police officers to charge a $35 fee when executing a warrant that results in the payment of fines.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 601, PN 3940:  This legislation would amend the Vehicle Code to ensure that the cost of blood alcohol testing is borne by the convicted individual or requesting authority when the person is not convicted in DUI cases.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

SB 1050, PN 1750: This legislation would require that vehicle manufacturers notify new car purchasers about the presence of an event data recorder (black box) in the vehicle they are purchasing.  Sen. Madigan offered amendment A7497, which would add a legislative intent section, give car makers an additional year to comply, require car buyers to sign a document acknowledging the disclosure, allow use of the information in certain legal proceedings, and prohibit the use of the data by auto insurers for setting rates.  A vote of 47-2 was recorded on the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 1069, PN 1714: This bill would establish the Innocence Commission of Pennsylvania to study and evaluate the underlying causes of wrongful convictions as they occur in the state.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

SB 713, PN 1736: This legislation would require consumers to opt-in for listing in any cellular phone provider’s directory.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded on concurrence in House amendments.

SB 881, PN 1738: This bill would prohibit, with several exceptions, the use of eminent domain for private purposes.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded on concurrence in House amendments.
