PASSED THE SENATE

SR 270, PN 1698:  This resolution commemorates June 11, 2006, as “Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans Day.”  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

SB 238, PN 1771:  This bill would amend the Administrative Code of 1929 to require the Department of State to charge a $5 per page fee for the authentication of certain documents required in international adoption proceedings.  The current fee is $15 per page.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 2319, PN 4052:  This legislation, known as the “Prohibition of Illegal Immigrant Alien Labor on Assisted Projects Act,” would prohibit the use of illegal immigrant labor on state-funded projects.  Sen. Scarnati offered amendment A7654, which was technical in nature.  The Senate agreed to the amendment, and a vote of 49-0 was recorded on the bill.

SB 1114, PN 1782: The bill would increase the amount that a second-class township official may receive as reimbursement for their attendance at a county association’s annual or semi-annual meeting.  A vote of 49-0 was recorded.

HB 750, PN 841: This bill would require that, in all counties, civil matters involving amounts below $50,000 be submitted to arbitration before going to trial.  A vote of 48-1 was recorded.

SB 999, PN 1790: This bill would make several changes to the state Election Code, including several provisions that had been part of House Bill 1318, which was vetoed by Gov. Rendell.  The requirement that all voters present identification, which had drawn criticism from several senators and prompted Rendell’s veto, is not part of this piece of legislation.  This bill would make changes with regard to locating polling places, absentee voting, posting notices of voters’ rights, and compensation for election officials.  A vote of 36-13 was recorded on concurrence in House amendments.
