PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 922, PN 2046:  This bill amends the Children’s Trust Fund Act, further providing for the Children’s Trust Fund Board, powers and duties of the board and the Department of Public Welfare.  The final vote of 50-0 was recorded. 

SB 972, PN 2098:  The legislation extends the MCARE Abatement Program for one year.  Senator Armstrong offered amendment 9499 which defines who qualifies as an emergency physician.  The amendment was agreed to and the bill went over as amended.  

HB 1285, PN 4643:  This bill amends Title 74, Transportation, providing for administrative practice and procedure; and making a related repeal.  Amendment 9365 was offered by Senator Madigan that removes all provisions relating to administrative law judges and establishes a list of proceedings in with department employees may not act as hearing officers.  The amendment also allows a person whose operating privilege has been suspended or revoked to at any time during the suspension or revocation, requests a hearing if he believes that the department has not properly given the credit for properly suspending the license.  A corresponding regulation is repealed.  The amendment was agreed to and the bill went over as amended.  

SB 1335, PN 2050:  The legislation makes two changes to the insurance company law. First, it codifies how the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies have met their obligations to provide insurance through the HIPAA Alternative Mechanism.  Secondly, the bill reauthorizes the HIPAA Alternative Mechanism by removing the sunset date for this program.  A final vote of 50-0 was recorded. 

HB 2498, PN 4457:   This bill amends Title 75 by establishing a new registration “Gold Star Family” license plate.  A final vote of 50-0 was recorded.
