SB 583, PN 2214: This Democratic-sponsored bill would amend the Crimes Code to prohibit convicted arsonists from serving as firefighters, set a mandatory minimum fine for lying to authorities, and expand the definition of “racketeering activity” in conjunction with the recent expansion of gaming in Pennsylvania. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 180, PN 2238: This bill would permit consumers to place and remove security freezes on their credit reports. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 439, PN 2203: This bill would establish a sexual assault evidence collection program. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 655, PN 2171: This bill would amend the Engineer, Land Surveyor and Geologist Registration Law to establish mandatory continuing education requirements for those licensed under this act. A vote of 47-1 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 770, PN 2215: This Democratic-sponsored bill would amend the Electronic Transactions Act to provide for electronic postmarks. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 811, PN 1814: This bill would amend the “County Pension Law” to permit the county retirement board to change the service credit for certain employees and to renew the authorized period to create two new benefit classes. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 860, PN 2091: This bill would amend the Plain Language Consumer Contract Act to provide further for requirements for contracts under seal. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 944, PN 2099: This bill would update Pennsylvania’s “Megan’s Law” to toughen penalties for sex offenses against minors and increase requirements for sex offender registration. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

SB 1104, PN 2127: This bill would amend the Underground Utility Line Protection Law to extend the bill’s current sunset date and make several other updates. A vote of 48-0 was recorded on concurrence.

HB 881, PN 4940: This bill would amend the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act. Sen. Gordner offered amendment A10505, which was technical in nature. The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

HB 1631, PN 4941: This bill would make several amendments to the Vehicle Code. Sen. Conti offered amendment A9918, which would outlaw driving while using a handheld cell phone. This would be a secondary offense only. A vote of 29-18 was recorded on the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

HB 2003, PN 2754: This bill would amend the County Code to remove the requirement that appointments of special counsel receive approval from the court of common pleas. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

HB 2133, PN 3636: This bill would provide for the issuance of state identification cards to children age 11 and older. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

HB 2563, PN 3806: This bill would permit a law enforcement officer or any person with a valid license to carry to possess a firearm while engaged in any activity regulated under the Game Code. A vote of 47-1 was recorded.

HB 854, PN 4867: This bill would create the “Public Utility Confidential Security Information Disclosure Protection Act” to protect information that could be used to attack public utility infrastructure in Pennsylvania. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

HB 2134, PN 4868: This bill would limit the collection of Social Security numbers on state and local government forms and prohibit health insurers from using these numbers. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.

SB 1285, PN 2251: This bill would amend the State Employees’ Retirement Code to provide further for credited state service for active state employees who are serving as officers of state employee unions. A vote of 48-0 was recorded.
