This bill would require majority approval from the Senate for
gubernatorial appointments to the position of director of the
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). Sen. Mellow stated that
no other director-level appointees currently must face Senate
confirmation, while Sen. Wozniak noted that requiring Senate
confirmation could politicize the process of selecting PEMA’s leader. A
vote of 29-20 was recorded.
