SB 112, PN 559: This bill would amend the Public School Code to
increase requirements for schools to report incidents of violence. This
legislation would strengthen memoranda of understanding, which are
agreements between local schools and law enforcement agencies
establishing procedures to be followed after a criminal incident, to
require immediate reporting of acts involving violent offenses or
weapons possession. The bill would also establish penalties for school
administrators who do not follow the law’s provisions. A vote of 48-1
was recorded.
SR 78, PN 791: This resolution designates April 24, 2007, as
“Pennsylvania’s Day of Remembrance of the Armenian Genocide of
1915-1923.” Between 1915 and 1923, the Turkish Ottoman Empire
perpetrated genocide on 1.5 million men, women, and children of Armenian
descent. A vote of 49-0 was recorded.
SR 80, PN 849: This resolution recognizes the week of April
29-May 5, 2007, as “National Charter Schools Week” in Pennsylvania. A
vote of 49-0 was recorded.
