PASSED THE SENATE

 

SB 105, PN 922This bill amends the Administrative Code dealing with the Environmental Quality Board (board).  It allows for the board to have an independent counsel to assist the board in its review of proposed and final rulemakings, and all other matters before the board.  A vote of 47-1 was recorded. 

SB 467, PN 940The legislation amends the Sunshine Act by increasing the penalty to $1,000 for the first offense and $2,000 for a second offense and subsequent offenses plus the cost of prosecution.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded. 

SB 699, PN 745The legislation amends the Judicial Code further providing for the admissibility of statements when using the emotional distress exception to the hearsay rule.  A vote of 48-0 was recorded. 

SB 537, PN 930This bill amends Title 18, making it unlawful for any person to knowingly purchase, sell, install or reinstall a fraudulent air bag on a motor vehicle.  Senator Greenleaf offered amendment A00604, which changes the definition of offense by taking out purchase or sell. The Senate agreed to the amendment as well as the bill as amended.

SR 91, PN 871: The Resolution urges the President and Congress to increase funding for special education programs.  The Senate agreed to the adoption of the resolution.

The Senate confirmed the following nominees by a vote of 48-0:

  • Honorable Peter J. Daley, II, Council of Trustees of California University

  • Adrian R. King, Jr., Commonwealth Trustee of Temple University
