PASSED THE SENATE

SB 221, PN 258: This Democratic-sponsored legislation would provide members of the National Guard and Armed Forces with a 90-day extension for a license to carry a concealed firearm. The extension would be granted if the service member was deployed overseas and the permit expired during that time. Service members would be required to present a copy of their military orders and license as proof of their ability to carry a firearm during the extension period. A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

SB 317, PN 1088: This bill would amend the Election Code to increase the fees associated with filing late reports or statements of expenditures and contributions. This bill would also prohibit former candidates from running again until all required paperwork has been filed and all fines paid. Sen. Pileggi offered amendment A752, which would eliminate the requirement that petition circulators for school board candidates be the same political party as the candidate and retain current law that weekends and holidays are excluded when calculating late filing fees. The Senate agreed to the amendment, and the bill went over as amended.

SB 8, PN 1089: This bill would establish a state fund for grants to implement medical safety automation systems. Sen. Mellow offered amendment A903, which was technical in nature. The Senate agreed to the amendment and the bill, as amended.
