SB 385, PN 1087: This bill would provide for Voice over
Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service and establish the VoIP
Emergency Services Fund. Senator Pileggi offered amendment A01291,
which states that the agency can make semiannual disbursements from the
account to each county by March 1 and September 1 of each year. The
Senate agreed to the amendment.
SB 413, PN 460: This bill amends the Second Class County
Code by prohibiting counties of the second class from assessing signs or
sign structures for the purposes of real estate taxes. This legislation
will also prohibit these sign structures from being considered real
property, regardless of whether the sign or sign structure is affixed to
the real estate property (either permanently or temporarily). A vote of
50-0 was recorded.
SB 799, PN 891: This bill amends the Rural Pennsylvania
Revitalization Act (Act 16 of 1987) by adding the regional campuses of
the University of Pittsburgh to the list of colleges and universities
whose faculty members are eligible for grants from the Center. A quorum
is also changed from 6 members to a simple majority and it increases the
maximum grant amount from $50,000 to $60,000. A vote of was recorded.
SB 844, PN 978: This bill amends the Real Estate Licensing
and Registration Act to further provide for prohibited acts and for the
handling of deposits and other escrows. Senator Tomlinson offered
amendment A00841 that would assess penalties. The Senate agreed to the
amendment.
