This bill establishes the “Mine Families First Program” within the
Department of Environmental Protection (department). The new program is
to ensure a two-way communication between those persons in command of a
mine emergency response operation and the families of miners trapped,
injured or waiting rescue. A vote of 47-0 was recorded.

The resolution designates September 25, 2007, as “Pennsylvania First
Responder Appreciation Day.” The Senate agreed to the adoption.
