PASSED THE SENATE

 

 

SB 96, PN 1412: This bill would establish a grant program within the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services encouraging volunteer emergency service organizations to form partnerships or associations, regionalize, consolidate, and/or merge.  Senator Don White offered Amendment A03410, which was technical in nature.  The amendment was agreed to.

SB 805, PN 1431: The legislation requires the Department of Education to provide an annual report on the operation of the Educational Assistance Tutoring Program and further provides for enrollment in charter and cyber schools.  A vote of 43-2 was recorded. 

SB 1016, PN 1304: The legislation amends the Administrative Code of 1929 by stating that in the event the Commonwealth or any other instrumentality thereof owns, leases or exercises jurisdiction and operational control of the Naval Air Station Join Reserve Base (NASJRB) Willow Grove, the property can be used to perform national defense, homeland security and emergency preparedness missions.  A vote of 43-2 was recorded. 

HB 1624, PN 2077: This bill designates a bridge carrying State Route 42 over the Catawissa Creek in Columbia County as the William F. Gittler, Sr. Memorial Bridge.  A vote of 45-0 was recorded.

SB 915 PN 1413: This legislation amends Title 51 (Military Affairs) by providing that the Department awards grants available to designated veterans’ service organizations to support veterans’ service officer programs.  Senator Baker offered Amendment A03409, which was technical in nature.  The amendment was agreed to.

SR 173, PN 1428: This resolution designates the month of October 2007 as “Disability Employment Awareness Month” in Pennsylvania.  A vote of 46-0 was recorded.
