PASSED THE SENATE

 

 

SB1254, PN1841:  This bill would amend The Insurance Company Law of 1921, further providing for marketing and administration of service contracts being distinct from the business of insurance.  A vote of 28-20 was recorded.

SB9, PN1870:  This bill would require identification of lawful presence in the United States as a prerequisite to the receipt of public benefits.  Senator Scarnati offered Amendment A05439, which would remove professional and commercial licenses from the definition of public benefit, exempt the WIC program, and would provide that verification can be done in person, by mail or email.  The amendment was agreed to and the bill went over as amended.

SB232, PN1572:  This bill would amend Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) and would further provide for criminal history record expungement. 

Senator Greenleaf offered Amendment A06439, which would revise the bill to permit only expungement of summary offenses.  It would also add provisions for maintenance of certain information as requested by the state police.  Currently, the bill permits certain second and third degree misdemeanors.  A vote of 29-19 was recorded on the amendment.  The bill went over as amended.

SB998, PN1878:  This bill would amend Title 40 (Insurance) to provide for clinical social work services.  The Senate agreed to return SB998 to its previous printer’s number of 1840.

SR252, PN1847:  This resolution would urge Pennsylvania citizens to participate in the In Case of Emergency campaign by entering information, under the acronym of ICE, into the memory of their cellular phones in order to assist medical and other emergency personnel in contacting designated persons in the case of an emergency.  The resolution was adopted.
