PASSED THE SENATE

HB 1416, PN 2433 This bill would provide from the General Fund for the expenses of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Departments of the Commonwealth, the public debt and the public schools for the fiscal year July 1, 2009, to June 30, 2010, for certain institutions and organizations, and for the payment of bills incurred and remaining unpaid at the close of the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009. Senator Corman offered amendment A02946 which strips the House approved budget language and proposes a $27.1 billion budget that does not raise taxes and taps one time revenue sources.  The amendment also endorses a number of revenue steps proposed by House Republicans including an amnesty program for tax delinquency and use of the state's Rainy Day Fund.  A vote of 31-19 was recorded on the amendment.

After lengthy debate, a final vote of 31-19 was recorded on the bill as amended.

Executive Nominations

The Senate approved the following nominations by a vote of 50-0:

S. Kweilin Nassar, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission

Luke F. Brubaker, Milk Marketing Board
