HARRISBURG, March 16, 2018 – Sen. John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) announced a solar energy grant has been approved for the engineering and installation of roof-top solar energy panels at Roosevelt Mall.

“I am thrilled that Roosevelt Mall was selected as the recipient for this solar energy grant,” said Sabatina. “This is a fantastic clean energy project for Philadelphia and for the environment.”

Sabatina hopes that more Philadelphia businesses will look to invest in solar energy in the future.

Brixmor Operating Partnership, the owners of the Roosevelt Mall, will construct the 950-kW roof-mounted solar array to help the facility cut back on the use of traditional electricity. The investment in solar energy will help reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions.

The grant for the Roosevelt Mall project was approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Solar Energy Program, which provides financial assistance to businesses looking to promote the use of solar energy in Pennsylvania.
