Sabatina Announces State Funds for Tioga Marine Terminal Improvement Project

PHILADELPHIA, April 24, 2017 — The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority was awarded a significant state grant for a rehabilitation project at Tioga Marine Terminal, according to state Sen. John Sabatina, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.

The State Transportation Commission (STC), of which Sabatina is a member, awarded the port authority $609,161 through the Rail Freight Assistance Program.  The funds will be used to rehabilitate the rail approaching and alongside the Tioga III warehouse at the Terminal, located in Port Richmond.

“The Tioga Marine Terminal is a hub for international trade and provides good, family-sustaining jobs.  This investment will ensure that productivity thrives and that the port maintains its infrastructure,” said Sabatina (D-Philadelphia). “This investment is crucial to ensure that the Ports of Philadelphia develop and maintain their edge over other ports in the region.”

This latest investment in Tioga Marine Terminal follows an announcement last November of a $12 million state investment to modernize warehousing and equipment.
