Sen. Stack Reacts to Possible Delay in Start of Philly School Year

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 9, 2013 — State Sen. Mike Stack issued the following statement today in response to the talked about possibility the School District of Philadelphia’s 2013-2014 school year will not begin on time:

“The failure of Philadelphia’s schools to open on time is an unacceptable outcome.  It would be a black eye for our city and our state while punishing Philadelphia kids for Tom Corbett’s failed leadership.

“Many schools are still reeling from Gov. Corbett’s $1 billion cut in public education funding. It’s time for all stakeholders to work together for immediate and long-term funding solutions that will help our students succeed,” Stack said.
