That is a wonderful philosophy, but unfortunately, not a realistic one. Primary elections, while they generate less turnout, are truly THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTIONS affecting the lives of Philadelphians. You should vote for the candidate and not the party. However, as a registered Republican, you never get the chance to select the winning candidate. If you were a registered Democrat, you could have still voted for Sam Katz in the general election, when he needed your vote, but in voting in the Democratic primary, you and others similarly situated might have very well been able to stop John Street from ever getting into the general election contest.
