Expansion Will Bring 800 Jobs, $30 million investment to 37th Senatorial District

Pittsburgh, PA − July 30, 2019 − Today, Senator Pam Iovino applauded and welcomed Amazon’s expansion into the 37th Senatorial District – a 1,000,000 square-foot non-sortable fulfillment center in Findlay Township, Allegheny County. The $30 million investment will bring to the 37th Senatorial District 800 full-time jobs with a starting wage of $15 per hour and comprehensive benefits.

“I applaud and welcome Amazon’s significant investment in Findlay Township, which will build on our region’s strong economic foundation by bringing 800 well-paid jobs to Allegheny County,” said Senator Pam Iovino (D-37th Senatorial District). “And I commend Findlay Township on their efforts to make the Township more attractive to companies and job creation by investing in their infrastructure. I also appreciate Governor Tom Wolf, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance for their part in securing this win.”

Amazon received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for $1.6 million in Job Creation Tax Credits to be distributed after the creation of new jobs. The Job Creation Tax Credit Program, according to program guidelines, “is a key component of the Commonwealth’s plan to develop and maintain a flexible arsenal of economic development incentives for Pennsylvania business to lead the way into the 21st century.”
