Harrisburg – August 28, 2019 – Sen. Larry Farnese (D – Philadelphia) announced today that the Philadelphia International Airport has been awarded $424,900 for needed improvements to the airports SEPTA rail facilities
“The Philly Airport is a vitally important part of the transportation network of Pennsylvania, and to the whole country,” said Farnese. “Making sure that transportation lines to and from the city are well maintained creates ease of access for both travelers and employees of the airport.”
The funds will be used to rehabilitate the platforms and canopies at the airport’s SEPTA regional rail line station.
Philadelphia International Airport serves 31.7 million passengers annually and provides 96,300 full-time jobs a year. The airport generates $15.4 billion for the local economy.
This grant program is funded through PennDOT’s Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, Aviation Development Program, and the Multimodal Fund.
