Improve Policing and Community Relations: Law Enforcement Training and Diversity Education

A joint state Senate-House Democratic Policy Committee hearing was held today in Wilkinsburg to focus on proposals aimed at improving community-police relations. Held locally at the request of Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa and Rep. Ed Gainey, the hearing was aimed at finding ways to boost training opportunities and enhance community-police relations.


Summer Gun Buyback Program

In acknowledgement of the gun violence epidemic declared in Philadelphia by Sen. Anthony H. Williams (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) and Gov. Tom Wolf, Sen. Williams joined with the 12th and 18th Philadelphia Police Districts to host a “no questions asked” Safe Summer Gun Buyback event.


Families Belong Together Protest

State Senator Daylin Leach (D-Montgomery/Delaware) led a Families Belong Together protest at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, PA. More than 300 people attended the event.
